This style of fencing is a dearer alternative to standard styles of fencing. Using softwood can bring the price down. You would normally see this style in a hardwood, like cedar, which although very expensive is really effective.
Using a dark stain could change the appearance dramatically.
This is a timber framed Summer House, just completed in Lilliput Poole.
Smooth Decking has been used on the exterior deck as well as the exterior of the building. The roof is pitched using slate tiles and zinc gutttering.
We adapted a pair of victorian doors for the summerhouse, removing panels and replacing with glazing.
Inside, the deck runs through, electrics and heating have been installed. We have created a mezzanine in the roof space as a chidrens camp area.
A bit of a different project for us. We were asked to build a pergola style roof, breakfast bar and shelving to create an area for cooking and eating pizza.
The roof is covered in artificial lawn so from above it blends in nicely with the garden.
Here we were asked to remove an existing deck and replace like for like adding a handrail and picket gate

Firstly we replaced the fencing, then removed the deck. We often find like in this case the deck is supported by a timber frame which is not suitable for the weight of the deck itself let alone the foot traffic and furniture it will support.
Our frame in place, there are 6 inch sub joists supported from concrete posts sitting underneath the main frame giving extra strength.
Day four and the work is complete. Our chunky handrail is installed along with a picket style gate to keep the dog in/out...
Customer is happy and it's all finished.
